260 Tickets, 14 Warnings Issued In Halloween Campaign: Plainfield PD

Plainfield police also made 13 traffic-related and criminal arrests during the two-week-long enforcement period.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield police issued a total of 260 citations during their Halloween enforcement campaign, officials announced Monday.

The recent initiative started Oct. 16 and went through Oct. 31. In that time, police were busy citing drivers for infractions including speeding and distracted driving.

  • 69 speeding
  • 8 distracted driving
  • 141 seat belt and child safety seat
  • 42 other traffic citations

Police also issued 14 written warnings and made four criminal arrests and nine traffic-related arrests.

The Plainfield Police Department was among multiple law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois that participated in the campaign in an effort to "save lives by getting impaired drivers off the roads and more people buckled up."

Police placed extra emphasis on enforcement during late-night hours since statistics indicate that's when most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities occur, officials said.

The Halloween enforcement campaign was paid for by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
