350 District 202 Students Designated AP Scholars
Students earn the distinction based on their performance on the Advanced Placement exams taken during the previous school year.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 had a total of 350 graduates and current students who were named 2023 AP Scholars, officials announced.
The first year, in 2010, students from all four high schools took Advanced Placement exams, the district recorded 104 AP Scholars. Four years prior, District 202 offered only four AP courses, compared to the 27 currently available to students.
"This year's results follow major initiatives implemented over the last several years to improve high school achievement, including increasing the number of more rigorous college-level courses and increasing access to such courses for all students," officials said in a news release.

Students earn the distinction based on their performance on the Advanced Placement exams taken during the previous school year. Although they're not required to take them — though officials said most do — students who do can earn college credit if they score a 3 or higher, out of a possible 5, on the tests.
At least 60 students at each District 202 high school earned the distinction.
