49 D202 High School Musicians Headed To District Festival

PLAINFIELD, IL — Forty-nine Plainfield School District 202 high school musicians are headed to the Illinois Music Educators Association district festival in November.

The band, orchestra and choir festival will be held Nov. 12 at Jacobs High School in Algonquin while the jazz band festival will take place Nov. 5 at Plainfield East High School.

The students, representing band, choir, jazz band and orchestra from all four District 202 high schools, were chosen based on a competitive audition after receiving music in advance to practice on their own, officials said.

At the festivals, students will rehearse during the day with top musical instructors before performing with other students from across the area as part of the festival.

The 49 students will later find out if they qualify to perform at the Illinois Music Education Conference held Jan. 25-28, 2023 in Peoria.
