$500 Fireworks Fine For Plainfield-Area Man

Police are cracking down on pyrotechnics.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police are serious about their fireworks crackdown. On Monday, officers responding to a fireworks complaint issued a $500 fine to a man on the city's far west side. According to WJOL, Anthony Figliulo, 38, was fined after officers found bottle rockets at his home in the 1900 block of Prairie Ridge Drive, which has a Plainfield mailing address.

Area police departments have issued warnings in recent weeks that they are cracking down on fireworks and planning enforcements for the 4th of July holiday. With the exception of novelties like sparklers, glow worms and snakes, most consumer fireworks are illegal in Illinois.
