PLAINFIELD, IL — School starts soon in Plainfield, leaving little time to check off items from the summer bucket list.
Several events are coming up before Plainfield students head back to class Aug. 13.

Here are some ways to make the most of the final stretch of summer:
- Plainfield police will host their annual community-oriented National Night Out from 4-8:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at Settlers' Park. Bounce houses, touch-a-truck, free food, entertainment and giveaways are planned.
- The inaugural Plainfield Moldova Sports Festival is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 8 at Settlers' Park and the adjacent vacant field. The event will feature athletics, food, drinks and music.
- Two Cruise Nights are scheduled in downtown Plainfield before the start of the school year. Aug. 4 is tractor night, and Aug. 11 is Hawaiian shirt night.
- The National Beep Baseball Association is hosting the 50th annual World Series Aug. 3-8 in Aurora.
- Plainfield United Methodist Church will host its Really Really Free Market beginning at 8 a.m. Aug. 8.
- Black Dog Vinyl Cafe will host a singer/songwriter showcase at 7 p.m. Aug. 6. Four artists will perform between 7-8:45 p.m.
- Aaron Williams and Jules Giampaolo will perform Aug. 8 on the patio at Chop'd.
- Amalove Boutique in Joliet will host a fashion show highlighting downtown style beginning at 1 p.m. Aug. 9.
