Donald Bennett Obituary

Donald "Luke" Bennett, 74, of Plainfield, formerly of Salem, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011, at home surrounded by his family.

Luke was born in Weston, W.Va., on June 27, 1936. He was a graduate of Fairmont State and Youngstown State Universities. He was employed by Salem City Schools for 34 years as a teacher, coach, and vice principal. He then went on to work for Columbiana County Juvenile Court for six years.

Mr. Bennett came to Salem from Dennison, Ohio, and lived there for 41 years before moving with his wife to Plainfield.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane of Plainfield; son, Tod and wife Pilar of Westerville, Ohio; and daughter, Shannon and husband Ryan Winterbottom of Plainfield; and two grandchildren, Annie and Ethan Winterbottom. He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis and husband Albert Johnson of Carrollton, Ga.

A private service was held in Kiawah Island, S.C., on Friday, March 11, 2011, at sunset.
