Paul Francis McCann, 42, born March 9, 1968, in Joliet, passed away on Sunday January 23, 2011 at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Medical Center in Mattoon, IL, with his family at his side. He was the brother of Carl McCann, a Plainfield resident.
Paul was the dear loving son to Lois and the late Edward C. McCann. In addtion to Carl, he was a beloved brother to Larry (Jessie) of California, and Kathleen (Jeffrey) Slovick of Glenn Ellyn, IL and a favorite uncle to nieces Whitney, Katie and Julia.
Paul was one of God's special children. He was a resident in a group home for the developmentally disabled in Charleston, Illinois, which Paul liked to call "God's country". His greatest loves were beautiful music, bowling, and being taken to his favorite eating places. Paul always looked forward to his nightly phone calls from his mother. Paul was mischievous and funny. He liked candy and couldn't resist his favorites, which included chocolate-covered cherries and Black Cows. Paul had a childlike zest for living, but he also had a side to him that was wise beyond his years. In his lifetime, Paul endeared himself to many. He was a special blessing to his family and will be greatly missed.
