Annual Madrigal Concerts Planned By Plainfield D202 High Schools

Each District 202 high school puts on its own concert — some will feature comedic plays, and others will perform as classical choirs.

PLAINFIELD, IL — With Christmas right around the corner, Plainfield students will celebrate the season with their annual madrigal concerts.

Each of Plainfield School District 202's high schools put on their own concert, and they're all a little different. Some will feature comedic plays, and others will perfom as classical choirs.

Plainfield South High School, 7800 W. Caton Farm Road

  • What: "A Royal Family Holiday" will tell the antics-filled story of the royal family of the Southern Kingdom as they spend another family holiday together.
  • When: 6 p.m. Dec. 2 and 2 p.m. Dec. 3
  • Tickets: General admission, available online, costs $10, and Blue House student tickets cost $5 at the door.

Plainfield East High School, 12001 S. Naperville Road

  • What: A madrigal performance featuring four choral ensembles and two instrumental ensembles.
  • When: 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2 and Dec. 3
  • Tickets: Tickets cost $10 and include figgy pudding and wassail.

Plainfield North High School, 12005 S. 248th Ave.

  • What: The concert will feature a variety of holiday and seasonal songs intertwined with a play. The new king and queen of a kingdom enlist the help of two local magicians to organize a new singing competition sure to entertain constituents and gain their support. Through wacky antics and awe-inspiring performances, everyone comes together again to celebrate the holidays.
  • When: 7 p.m. Dec. 8 and Dec. 9
  • Tickets: Admission is pay-what-you-can. Concessions will be available at intermission.

Plainfield Central High School, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Drive

  • What: The school will host its 45th annual madrigal performance.
  • When: 6 p.m. Dec. 15 and Dec. 16
  • Tickets: Admission is free.
