Bartlett Avenue In Plainfield Closes For Sanitary Sewer Work

PLAINFIELD, IL — A segment of Bartlett Avenue in Plainfield will be shut down to through traffic starting Monday to make way for sanitary sewer work, officials said.

The construction, expected to take a week to complete, will occur between Route 126 and Evans Street. Crews began prepping for work on Sept. 7.

The sanitary sewer work is part of phase two of the Old Town project. This phase of construction, which includes water main and storm and sanitary sewer work on Bartlett Avenue, Center Street, Amboy Street and Evans Street, is expected to be completed next spring.

Adjacent residential traffic and emergency response vehicles will be allowed through the work zone and flagged around the construction.

Nearby, Lockport Street at Route 59 also closed Monday to all eastbound traffic to drivers as workers began installing a new water main, Patch reported.

Once the work is completed north of Evans Street, crews plan to replace sanitary sewer manholes at various locations between Lockport and Evans streets, officials said.
