Book Lovers Invited to Great American Read Finale Broadcast
Plainfield Library Event Includes Refreshments, Giveaways

Will it be “Gone With the Wind” or “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”? Perhaps the “Harry Potter” series? Or even Stephen King’s “The Stand”?
As part of The Great American Read, people from all across the country have spent the last several months voting on their favorite novels of all time, and it is finally time to reveal the winners.
In honor of the occasion, local book lovers are invited to watch the live broadcast of The Great American Read finale on Oct. 23 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Plainfield Public Library.

America’s top 20 favorite books will be revealed along with the No. 1 most-loved novel. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments, book giveaways and a Kindle Paperwhite eReader drawing. The series finale starts at 7 p.m.
This Great American Read event is offered as part of a $2,000 grant from the American Library Association and PBS. The Plainfield Public Library District was one of just 50 libraries nationwide to be selected for the grant.

The Plainfield Public Library is located at 15025 S. Illinois St. in downtown Plainfield. Registration for the event is required.
