Carbon Monoxide Kills 2 Women, 3 Animals in Plainfield Home

Five police officers were also treated for exposure to the gas.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Two women and three animals were found dead in a Plainfield home from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.

Police went to the 12700 block of Shelly Lane Monday for a welfare check, according to the Plainfield Police Department. Upon arrival, officers found a 65-year-old woman and a 29-year-old woman dead inside. Police also found three dead animals. The preliminary cause of death is carbon monoxide poisoning.

During the incident, five Plainfield police officers were taken to Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora for exposure to carbon monoxide.
