Christmas 2017: What's Open, Closed In Plainfield
From village hall to local schools, a look at holiday closings, plus what's open on Christmas.

PLAINFIELD, IL — It's almost time to gather the family and tear into those carefully selected presents (you've finished your shopping, right?). While some people — including employees at some retail stores, as well as emergency responders — will be working on the holiday, many area businesses and offices will be closed, giving workers a day off.
Here's list of what's open and what's closed in Plainfield for Christmas 2017.
- Post office: Closed
- Federal offices: Closed
- Village of Plainfield: City offices are closed. Garbage collection will be delayed a day.
- Will County offices, including the circuit clerk's office, courts, health department and more will be closed on Christmas
- Plainfield schools: Closed (Winter break lasts through Jan. 8, 2018)
- Plainfield library: Closed
- Banks: Closed
- Gas stations: Open
- Retail stores: Some will be closed, some — including a few area grocery stores — will be open, but check the hours before you go.
