College Credits: Plainfield Singers To Go Abroad With College Choir
Area students from Plainfield are doing amazing things at colleges and universities across the United States.

Plainfield North alum graduates Benedictine University after three years
Aloki Mehta, a 2019 graduate of Plainfield North High School, graduated summa cum laude from Benedictine University on May 14. The student, recipient of the Plainfield Rotary Club scholarship, finished her degree in three years, rather than four, by taking summer courses and 18 credit hours a semester.

In college, Mehta was induced into Beta Beta Beta (popularly known as Tri-Beta), the biological honors society. She is now a lifelong member of the society, a member of the Iota Pi chapter, and a Jurica & Birck-Tellabs scholar.
As of July 2022, she will be heading to Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine to begin her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.

Plainfield students to travel abroad with Augustana Choir
The Augustana Choir, under the direction of Dr. Jon Hurty, will perform in Germany and the Czech Republic during a tour May 24-June 7.
Students participating who are native of Plainfield include:

- Mattheia Rudolph
The choir has six musical engagements during the tour, most at historic churches such as the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, Germany, which is associated with several well-known composers such as Wagner, Mendelssohn and Bach, who is interred there.
The group also will tour Schloss Sanssouci in Potsdam, the Monument to the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig, the Terezin concentration camp and memorial, Prague Castle and Karlstejn Castle.

Plainfield student named to dean’s list at Bob Jones University
Ethan Wood, a Sophomore Engineering major from Plainfield, was among approximately 750 Bob Jones University students named to the Spring 2022 Dean's List.
The Dean's List recognizes students who earn a 3.00-3.74 grade point average during the semester.

Plainfield students earn degrees from University of Nebraska-Lincoln
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln conferred a record 3,612 degrees during commencement exercises May 13 and 14.
The 3,523 graduates are from 58 countries; 45 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico; and more than 250 Nebraska communities.
In addition, graduates from 2020 and 2021 who were unable to attend their ceremonies were celebrated. More than 20 returned to be recognized.
Following is a list of area graduates with their college and degree.

Plainfield natives graduate University of Mississippi
More than 3,300 students graduated from the University of Mississippi in May 2022. Undergraduate and graduate candidates received degrees from the College of Liberal Arts, General Studies and schools of Accountancy, Applied Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Journalism and New Media, Law and Pharmacy.
- Alexis Obman, of Plainfield, majored in Forensic Chemistry and earned a Bachelor of Science from the College of Liberal Arts.
- Alexis Chan, of Plainfield, majored in Accountancy and earned a Bachelor of Accountancy from the Patterson School of Accountancy.

Plainfield’s Rayna Harter graduates from Worcester Polytechnic Institute
On Saturday, May 14, Plainfield native Rayna Harter, who majored in chemical engineering, was bestowed a bachelor's degree at WPI's 153rd Commencement. Nearly 1,200 undergraduate degrees were awarded during the university's 153rd commencement ceremony. This undergraduate ceremony marked the first time the entire class and their family and friends were able to gather together for an in-person ceremony since 2019.

Plainfield native earns degree from Central College
Daniel DeVenuto, Plainfield, was one of 216 Central College students who were celebrated during Commencement on Saturday, May 14, at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium.
DeVenuto received a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.

Student from Plainfield named to University of Evansville dean's list
Sydney Koplinski of Plainfield has been named to the University of Evansville Dean's List for outstanding academic achievement during the Spring 2022 semester. Koplinski is studying Nursing at the University of Evansville (UE), a private university located in Evansville, Indiana.
More than 500 students at UE were named to the Dean's List. To merit this honor, a student must have carried a full academic load of 12 hours or more and have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or above.

Plainfield student makes dean’s list at Belmont University
Kelsey Roberts, of Plainfield (60544), achieved the Dean's List at Belmont University for the Spring 2022 semester. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours (exclusive of audit and pass/fail courses this semester) and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C (inclusive of audit, pass/fail courses and zero-credit courses).

Plainfield native makes dean’s list at Buena Vista University
Peyton Skiba of Plainfield was named to Buena Vista University's Spring 2022 Dean's List. Skiba was among more than 500 students named to the Dean's List this semester.
The Dean's List recognizes full-time students achieving a 3.5-grade point average or higher for the semester.
