Student from Plainfield graduates with computer science degree
Guillermo Vasquez of Plainfield, IL, earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, Massachusetts, at the beginning of June.

Plainfield North alumna graduates from college with honors

Sarah Lau, a Class of 2019 alumna of Plainfield North High School, graduated in May 2023 from Saint Louis University with honors. She received her bachelor’s degree in health sciences.
Lau minored in Healthcare Ethics and Women’s and Gender Studies, and a certificate in Cannabis Science and Operations. She has previous work experience at Saint Louis University and recently excepted a position with Oswego School District.

Plainfield student graduates summa cum laude from Baylor University
Mireya Ruiz, of Plainfield, graduated summa cum laude from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Ruiz also made the Dean’s Academic Honor List for the spring 2023 semester. To qualify, students have to earn a grade point average of at least 3.7 while enrolled in a minimum of twelve hours.

University of Dallas student from Plainfield makes dean’s list
Camila Martinez of Plainfield, IL, was one of more than 450 University of Dallas undergraduate students named to the fall 2022 Dean's List for earning a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher. Martinez is a junior majoring in English.

University of Dallas student from Plainfield makes dean’s list
Daisy Trujillo, of Plainfield, was one of nearly 300 University of Dallas undergraduate students named to the fall 2022 Honor Roll for earning a semester GPA of 3.0-3.49. Trujillo is a Sophomore majoring in Biology.

Brook Fieldman selected for Texas Medical Center internship
Brook Fieldman, a communication science and disord major of Plainfield, was one of 11 Augustana College juniors selected for the Texas Medical Center Summer Research Internship Program.
The selected students will take part in the paid, full-time, 10-week experience at the Texas Medical Center in Houston this summer.

University of Kentucky College of Arts & Sciences announces fall 2022 dean's list
More than 1,825 undergraduate students qualified for the Fall 2022 University of Kentucky College of Arts & Sciences Dean's List. Students on the Dean's List earned 12 or more credit hours as letter grades with a minimum 3.60 GPA for the semester. The complete UK list can be found here. Among the recipients are:

Plainfield student helps Jet Fuel Review earn 'Superior' rank for Art and Literary Magazine Excellence
Lewis University's student magazine Jet Fuel Review received the designation of "Superior" from the National Council of Teachers of English for its 23rd issue published in Spring 2022.
JFR's high-ranking magazine received praise from poet, teacher, and editor Jami Macarty. "I appreciate their professional and stream-lined editorial production methods, and now that I am taking in Issue No. 23, I am appreciative of their collective, inclusive, expansive editorial vision and artistic direction."
JFR editors for Issue No. 23 included Lewis University students and alumni, including Plainfield native Alecea Cardillo. Dr. Simone Muench, professor of English Studies and director of Creative & Professional Writing, served as the faculty advisor.
Cardillo is studying English at Lewis University.

Plainfield students participate in research and discovery symposium
Every year, during the Student Research & Discovery Symposium, students from all majors discuss their original work, which includes performances of compositions and creative writings, art displays, research posters and oral presentations. Faculty, staff and students cycle through Stewart Memorial Library to catch up on all the research and creative work that had been completed in the academic year.
At Coe, all students have the opportunity to conduct and complete research as undergraduates. This year, 60 students presented, including:
