College Credits: Student Receives Highest Undergrad Distinction

Plainfield native achieves highest undergrad distinction for academic excellence

Gianna Rose Sobieski, of Plainfield, achieved university honors at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the highest award granted to undergraduates for academic excellence.

Students who earn University Honors are those with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or better through the academic term prior to their graduation. They must also rank in the top 3 percent of the graduating class in their college and complete all degree requirements for their program by the end of the 2022 Spring semester.

Sobieski demonstrated academic excellence of the highest degree, and her name will be inscribed on a bronze tablet displayed in the corridors of the university’s library. The student joins a select group of alumni who, since 1925, have ranked in the upper 3 percent of their college’s graduating class.

Student from Plainfield honored at academic all-conference

Millikin University, in conjunction with the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), announces the CCIW Dave Wrath Academic All-Conference team for Spring season of 2022.

Jacob Havis, a biology major from Plainfield, was among the team members for the spring 2022 season.

Each season the CCIW selects an Academic All-Conference Team. To be recognized, the student-athlete must be enrolled as a full-time student; must have participated on a team during 2022 Spring season; and must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. Athletes must have completed two semesters at their current institution before being eligible for Academic All-Conference Recognition.

Plainfield students among University of Tampa grads

The University of Tampa hosted a commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 7 to honor the 1,713 degree-seeking candidates at the University's 154th commencement. The event was attended by the students, their family members and friends, UT faculty and staff members, and the general public. The ceremony included remarks by alumni and brothers, Javier Baldor '89, CEO of BST Global, and Carlos Baldor '87, president and chief technology officer of BST Global.

The following local students graduated from The University of Tampa.

• Jessica McNeill, of Plainfield, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations BA.
• Zachary Chase, of Plainfield, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health BS.

Local students make University of Utah dean’s list

The University of Utah congratulates more than 8,900 students who were named to the Spring 2022 Dean's List. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in at least 12 graded credit hours during any one term.

University of Tampa honors Plainfield students on dean's list

The University of Tampa has honored 1,912 students who were named to the dean's list for the Fall 2020 semester. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.75 or higher to be eligible for the dean's list.

Jenna Dunbar of Plainfield has earned Semester Honors for the Spring 2022 semester at Edgewood College. Full-time students who achieve a 3.5-grade point average for the semester are eligible for this honor.
