COVID-19 Guidelines Revised At Plainfield School District 202
Students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 no longer have to stay home for a required number of days.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 has amended its COVID-19 guidelines to match the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's streamlined tips.
The CDC's COVID-19 protocols are now aligned with guidelines for other respiratory viruses including respiratory syncytial virus, also known as RSV, and the flu. As a result, District 202 officials said they will treat the coronavirus the same as any other respiratory illness moving forward.
Amended guidelines recommend students and staff who are sick to stay home but no longer require a specific number of days at home. Instead, individuals should return to school and normal activities when systems have continued to improve for 24 hours. If a fever was present, it should be gone for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine.

After resuming normal activities, those who were sick should take precautions for five days, including enhanced hygiene practices, wearing a well-fitting mask, maintaining distance and testing for COVID-19, district officials said. People who test positive for a common seasonal respiratory illness but have no symptoms should take the same measures.
