D202 High School Musicians Accepted Into ILMEA District Festivals

Forty-six students from District 202 high schools will play at the festival for jazz, choir, band and orchestra on Nov. 13 and Nov. 20.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Forty-six high school musicians from Plainfield School District 202 are gearing up to head to the Illinois Music Education Association District Festivals for jazz, choir, band and orchestra in November.

Senior band, chorus and orchestra students from the high schools will be participating in a festival at Dundee-Crown High School, 1500 Kings Road in Carpentersville, Nov. 13. Jazz choir and band students will perform at Hampshire High School, 1600 Big Timber Road in Hampshire, Nov. 20.

The selected students participated in a competitive audition process and once chosen, they received music in advance to practice on their own. On the day of the festivals, musicians will rehearse for several hours with top college instructors before performing in the festival that brings together students from high schools in ILMEA's District 9.
