PLAINFIELD, IL — Starting Monday, a temporary detour will limit traffic on Lockport Street to make room for construction, officials said.

The work is part of the Old Town Project, and this phase consists primarily of water main and storm sewer installation on Lockport Street, from Route 59 to east of the CN Railroad, and Eastern Avenue, from Lockport Street to Route 126. The project will begin with pavement saw cutting, pavement removal and water main work on Lockport Street.

In order for crews to work, the detour will be in effect during daytime working hours and will be in place until mid-October, according to village officials. A construction notice lists working hours as 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
