Downtown Plainfield Shop Closing

The gift shop operated in various locations for more than three decades.

PLAINFIELD, IL — After five years, a downtown Plainfield shop is closing for good. Just Ducky, located at 24103 W. Lockport St., is slated to close by the end of the month. The shop first opened in late September 2012, although Just Ducky has had locations in Burr Ridge, Bolingbrook and Naperville in the past.

When the Plainfield shop first opened, owner Lori Donofrio told Patch she was excited to open a location in her hometown, saying she had her family had operated Just Ducky stores for more than 25 years, starting with a Darien location in 1986.

An employee who answered the phone at the Plainfield store said after 32 years, "it was just time" to close the franchise. She said the downtown Plainfield shop is expected to be open until Jan. 25.
