Fake Movie Money Circulating In Plainfield: Cops
Some of the counterfeit cash was even found in local high schools.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Another scam is targeting Plainfield-area residents, according to police. This time around, scammers are using movie money — which looks real but has "for motion picture use only" printed on it — for transactions. "Chinese writing money," which is exactly what it sounds like (fake U.S. currency with Chinese symbols printed on it), has also been circulating, according to police.
Police said some of the phony cash has been recovered around the village, including at Plainfield high schools. Last week, cops warned of another scam in which drivers are told they can be paid up to $500 to have their car wrapped in advertising and drive around that way.
If you encounter the fake cash during a transaction, notify the authorities, police said. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)
