Family of Plainfield's First Kindergarten Teacher Keeps Her Legacy Alive

Bonnie McBeth's children visited her namesake school last week.

Submitted by District 202:

David McBeth and his wife, Donna, read the Christmas classic, “The Polar Express” to students at the Bonnie McBeth Learning Center, District 202’s preschool. David’s brother, Ken, who is a technology teacher at Plainfield High School - Central Campus also took time to read to students.

David and Ken are the sons of the school’s beloved namesake, Bonnie McBeth, who passed away in February 2014. She would visit the school every year to read “The Polar Express.” The McBeth family pledged to continue her tradition upon her passing.

Mrs. McBeth was District 202’s first kindergarten teacher starting in 1951 and taught for 38 years. She also taught reading and worked as a reading specialist during her education career.
