Fishing Derby Tickets Still Available With Plainfield Park District

Children should bring their bait, buckets and fishing pole to test their angling skills at Van Horn Woods East.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Park District will host its annual Fishing Derby April 22. With less than two weeks out, tickets are still available.

Open to children ages 3 to 13, the event encourages them to bring their bait, buckets and fishing pole to test their angling skills at Van Horn Woods East.

The derby is scheduled to last from 9-10:30 a.m.

Tickets cost $8 for residents and $10 for non-residents. By signing up, participants are also entered into a raffle.

The derby is divided into three age divisions: 3 to 5, 6 to 8, and 9 to 13. Awards will be given to the kids who catch the longest fish, with one winner in each division.

The event will take place rain or shine. Organizers reminded participants to dress appropriately for the activity.
