5. Cemetery Walk
Take a walk through Plainfield’s storied past at the Plainfield Historical Society’s cemetery walk Sunday at the Plainfield Township Cemetery at Route 59 and Fort Beggs Drive. (The event has been rescheduled due to rainy conditions on the original date, Sept. 18.)
The cemetery walk features costumed actors who bring to life stories of former residents – from a wealthy industrialist family to a retired Chicago Cubs pitcher and more. Cemetery sites have been thoroughly researched to ensure the historical accuracy of the scripts, which were crafted by local writers.
Three groups of performances are scheduled: 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Previously purchased tickets will be honored and tickets will also be for sale for $15 each at the gate. If rain prevents setup or creates slippery walking conditions at the cemetery, the event will take place at the same times at the Plainfield Fire Protection District’s new campus on 135th Street east of Route 59.
