Fritz Wrong for Will County Board
Why this voter thinks Gretchen Fritz is the wrong person to represent the people of District 5

Gretchen Fritz should not be elected to the Will County Board. Here’s what her campaign website, Facebook pages, and a recent flyer from the Will County Board Republican Caucus don’t tell us about what she lists as her qualifications and experience:
Current – PPLD Trustee
Fritz became a library trustee as part of the failed hi-jacking of our library district in 2013. Under this scheme, the board of trustees would oust the current library director and vote Fritz into the job, though Fritz is not qualified. Sound familiar? This plan was devised by the same scoundrels responsible for the temporary but extremely damaging and expensive take-over of our park district last year. Fortunately, the majority of the library trustees refused to be unethical puppets because they ran to serve the district, not anyone’s political agenda. This will be something to keep watch on since three trustee seats up are up again in April 2015.
Co-host and Producer—On Target Radio, AM560 and Instructor—SAFER USA
Since 2013, Fritz has worked for her boyfriend-turned-campaign manager part-time on his once weekly radio show and part-time as a gun instructor. There’s nothing wrong per se with being employed by friends or loved ones, but sometimes it’s an indicator of a person’s inability to be employed in the real world. Fritz cites no work or career prior to 2012. Her resume begs the question of why she doesn’t, in her early 40’s, have any substantial employment history. What has she been doing for the past 20+ years of her life? What real work ethic or experience does she have?

Local Small Business Owner
Claiming to be an “Entrepreneur” or a “Small Business Owner” is a fetish during elections. Fritz is just a copy-editor for hire under the name “My Editor Proofreading Services”, and only since 2012. She can put as much lipstick on the pig as she wants, but Fritz has no employees, meets no payroll, produces no product, creates no jobs, and doesn’t actually “do” much business at all. She might do more if she stopped posting to her My Editor Facebook page obscenity-filled videos from 3rd parties that mock the bad language skills of strangers while repeatedly calling them “b***hes”, and worse. This is supposed to illustrate the benefits of good grammar and punctuation and the need for you to hire her. That’s an active, open business services page that doesn’t require logging in to FB to see the complete lack of judgment, both professional and personal, that Fritz displays in choosing such content.
My other big problem with her “small business” is that she uses the address of the Plainfield Public Library for it. That’s wildly inappropriate. The library is our library, not her business address. She should cough up the few bucks a year for a postal box, like normal people do.

Other
Fritz lists her church affiliation and being a deacon as separate credentials. Let’s roll those “qualifications” into one and ask, so what? Same goes for her being Deputy Voter Registrar since 2012. These go in the category of “Things I Do in My Free Time That Don’t Qualify Me for Anything”.
It Gets Worse
I have two additional and important reasons not to vote for Fritz, ever.
At the last Plainfield Coffee with the Mayor, after introducing herself to the group as a library trustee during the customary open introductions, Fritz said not one word. After the meeting, Fritz greeted our mayor’s wife, saying that she had been “campaigning my butt off”, lately. How? By showing up at public gatherings, hugging the wall, and waiting for people to come to her? A few friends have found “sorry I missed you” notes from Fritz on their doors on days when they were home and know that no one knocked or rang the doorbell. She clearly lacks the skills to engage with others effectively in her campaign and therefore would be ineffective on the WCB, a diverse collection of 26 souls. Pose smiling and hugging wing-nut former Rep. Joe Walsh at some Tea Party event for a cover photo for your campaign’s FB page? No problem. Engage with a variety of citizens out in public to earn their votes? No can do.
Her worst trait, though, is bigotry. Fritz referred to Dr. Ben Carson, a popular Fox News personality, as being “After George Pearson [a local Tea Party activist], . . . my current favorite black man”. Wow, what lucky black men those two are! Congrats to both black Mr. Pearson and black Dr. Carson for triumphing over their blackness so that they can make Fritz’s black honor roll!
Ben Carson or Johnny Carson, they’re just men, just people. Skin color is not a qualifier of character, but being racist disqualifies you for elected office. Would Fritz ever refer to anyone as her “favorite white man”? That Fritz doesn’t get that her words were not a compliment but a slur is something for which she should feel shame. Her statement tells you something about her and her world view. I don’t know if Fritz is aware, but there are at least a few citizens who aren’t white in Will County! How can she represent them on the county board given her bias?
And how can the Will County Republican organizations expect anyone to accept that Fritz is the best Republican they could find in all of Will County’s 5th to run for the WCB? How pitiful is that?
Gretchen Fritz doesn’t deserve anyone’s vote. She’s too aligned with the least ethical of our politicians, too inexperienced and unaccomplished for her age, unable or unwilling to interact effectively with people, and she’s got an ignorant attitude that means she’ll see you for what color—maybe even what gender, religion, or ethnicity—you are before she sees you for who you are as a whole and equal person.
Fortunately, there are three other candidates running and only two seats in play. Who’s ready to go vote?
