Lakewood Falls Shooting Was Gang Related: Police
A man was shot through a sliding glass door in what police are now calling a targeted incident.

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, IL — The Will County Sheriff's Office said a 29-year-old Plainfield Township man shot early Thursday in the Lakewood Falls subdivision was the intended victim in a gang-related shooting. The man was wounded when shots rang out in the 14000 block of Emerald Court. Police said they received a 911 call from the homeowner just after midnight saying her boyfriend had been shot in the leg.
Will County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said the woman and her three children were upstairs sleeping when she was awakened by the gunshots.
Deputies arrived to find the boyfriend with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg. Hoffmeyer said the woman and children were not injured in the incident.

The man told police he was downstairs in the kitchen when a male figure appeared outside the sliding glass back door.
Hoffmeyer said the gunman fired eight to nine shots through the door, wounding the man, who was taken to AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center Bolingbrook. She said medical staff told police the victim would need surgery to repair his knee.
