ice cream specialty shops are dishing up their fifth annual “31-Cent Scoop Night” from 5 to 10 p.m. at stores nationwide, including the one in Plainfield, 13313 Route 59.
The cone company is “scooping up thanks for our firefighters” with a $100,000 donation to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. This year, for the first time ever, the April flavor of the month – Firehouse #31 – coincides with 31-Cent Scoop Night to fuel gratitude for our heroes.
“With Firehouse #31, the first official flavor of 31-Cent Scoop Night, Baskin-Robbins created an explosion of unexpected and complementary flavors that will get not only ice cream enthusiasts excited to try this new flavor, but also every local fire department,” Brian O’Mara, Baskin-Robbins vice president of marketing, said in a press release.
The firefighters foundation, established in 1992, honors America’s fallen fire heroes and their families with programs that recognize firefighters who died in the line of duty and support their families and co-workers.
Last year Baskin-Robbins scooped more than 4 million ice cream cones during 31-Cent Scoop Night.
“The combination of hot and cold in Firehouse #31 will instantly become a favorite way to spend a rainy – or sunny – day,” O’Mara said.
This may be the one time getting scooped is a good thing.
