Increased Holiday Enforcement Yields 34 Tickets: Plainfield PD
This time around, police issued significantly fewer tickets compared to their Thanksgiving enforcement when they wrote 173 citations.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield police's holiday campaign targeting seat belt usage and speeding yielded a total of 34 tickets.
Enforcement kicked off Dec. 15 and ended Jan. 1. Here's a look at the breakdown of tickets:
- 11 seat belt
- 16 speeding
- 1 distracted driving
- 6 other
Officers also issued four written warnings during the campaign.

This time around, police issued significantly fewer tickets compared to their Thanksgiving enforcement when they wrote 173 citations for offenses including speeding and improper seat belt usage, Patch reported.
The purpose of the December campaign, conducted in conjunction with Illinois State Police and other nearby law enforcement agencies, was to remind drivers to buckle up and slow down in an effort to reduce injuries and fatalities, officials said.

"This year's campaign was successful in grabbing people's attention with highly visible enforcement methods," police said in a Wednesday news release. "As always, our goal is a safe community with safe drivers."
