The internships, for which college students are eligible, will take place from May to August.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The deadline to submit applications for the Plainfield Police Department's internship program is fast approaching.
College students looking to learn the ins and outs of working at a police department have until Wednesday to apply for the summer program, which will last from May to August.
Two interns will be chosen for the opportunity. Students who are seniors pursuing a career in municipal law enforcement and are majoring in criminal justice are given first consideration, according to guidelines.

During the program, students will be assigned to various units and section of the administrative, patrol, legal and community service divisions in order to "familiarize the intern with all aspects of municipal police department operations."
The internship, which is unpaid, will consist of hours mutually agreed upon by the student and the department. It's possible the position could require full-time hours in order to meet the student and department's needs, officials said. Some weekend and nighttime hours may be required as well.
