Joliet Car Theft Suspect Caught After Fleeing Into Plainfield: Cops

Plainfield police said the suspect was believed to have stolen a car out of Joliet earlier Tuesday.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A man who Plainfield police said stole a vehicle in Joliet Tuesday and fled on foot near 127th Street and Route 59 was later taken into custody, police said around 7 p.m.

Earlier, officials said the man was last seen entering a cornfield near 127th Street and Book Road. Police described the man as having long hair and wearing a white tank top, black shorts and a backward baseball cap.

Plainfield officers worked with drones and a K-9 unit from the Naperville Police Department to search for the man.

The suspect's name and potential charges had not been released as of just before 8 p.m. Tuesday.
