Letter: Reader Supports Reed Bible

A few weeks ago, your newspaper printed a story about eight Democrats who were kicked off the Will County Board elections ticket. Out of those eight candidates, only one managed to get back onto the ballot and that was Reed Bible.     

Reed Bible is a resident of Plainfield and a retired attorney, who also worked as a supervisory special agent for Homeland Security. He and his wife have been very active within the Plainfield community, including involvement with the Obama for America campaign, Better Government Association, Habitat for Humanity, Literacy DuPage and Democrats for Will County. We need someone like Reed Bible. He feels that there are many ways to improve the way Will County can serve its residents, both the present population and those planning to reside here in the coming years.     

Will County is the fastest growing county in the state. Our budget has to be able to handle such a high influx of incoming citizens. Reed Bible believes in fiscal responsibility, and pledges to "give back" 10 percent of his salary as a board member to the county, in order to help the county flourish. Reed hopes that, through leading by example, more politicians will follow his actions, resulting in the lowering of our county's operating expenses in order to stretch the budget to pay for essential services.     

Reed Bible also keeps his promises. John Argoudelis, who promised to make a decision regarding his resignation from one of his two government positions after being elected to the county board from District 5, has broken that promise by remaining a Plainfield Township Supervisor! He receives two paychecks, holds two offices, oversees two budgets, but can only do the work for one.     

I want people to know that they should vote for Reed Bible, not only because he has pledged his own money to invest in our county, but he has the integrity to keep his pledge. He will not make promises that he cannot nor will not keep. In today's society, we need someone with that kind of integrity and honesty.

Editor's note: Reed Bible was one of the eight candidates removed from the ballot in July; Will County Democrats . However, Bible has since been designated to fill a spot on the ballot vacated by Mike Costello, who has withdrawn from the race.
