Lincoln Elementary Assistant Principal Promoted To District-Level Role
D202's incoming superintendent said Cindy Castanon will help "all our students achieve ... their fullest academic and personal potential."

PLAINFIELD, IL — Lincoln Elementary School's assistant principal is moving into a district-level role starting in the next school year. The Plainfield School District 202 Board of Education approved Cindy Castanon's new assistant at its June 27 regular meeting.
As the new district director for the linguistics and diversity department, Castanon will replace Michelle O'Shea.
"I look forward to continuing the great work this department has done over the last several years to support each one of our District 202 students," Castanon said in a statement.

Castanon started her education career in 2009 working as an English language learner teacher at Eagle Pointe Elementary School. She served five years in the role before becoming a dean at Plainfield East High School in 2014. In 2017, she was named assistant principal at Lincoln, a position she held until her recent promotion.
"Under Michelle's leadership, the Linguistics and Diversity department made significant and important progress in serving our students who need extra help with the English language," incoming Superintendent of Schools Glenn Wood said in a statement. "We are confident, given her background and experience, that Castanon will continue that progress so we can help all our students achieve to their fullest academic and personal potential."
