Locals Rally To Raise Money After Plainfield Girl, 12, Killed In Crash

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield community is rallying to support a local family after a 12-year-old girl died Jan. 18.
Gianna Lamb was hit by a car on Route 59 while running away from another crash Jan. 17 near the intersection with Riverwalk Court, Patch reported.
Days later, her extended family created a GoFundMe to "assist in whatever the family may need and rally in support and love." So far, the campaign has raised more than $70,000.

"Even at the tender age of 12 Gianna was the brightest light," the fundraiser reads. "She always put others first with her caring and tender heart. Her smile and presence [were] powerful."
According to the campaign, Gianna was awarded "most outstanding female" in her elementary school year. The 12-year-old ran cross country, played soccer and "excelled in nearly everything she tried."

Friends, family and the community can attend a visitation for Gianna planned from 2-7 p.m. Jan. 26 at Community Christian Church, 24035 W. Riverwalk Court in Plainfield. A celebration of life service is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
"She lived every single day to its fullest," Gianna's obituary reads. "She embodied what it meant to live each day like it's your last. ... Every person whose life she touched felt worthy and cared for. She lived and loved so fiercely."
