Lockport Street To Close For 'Old Town' Project Utility Repairs
This phase in the project consists primarily of water main and storm sewer installation on Lockport Street and Eastern Avenue.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A segment of Lockport Street will close to traffic Monday to make way for utility work, officials announced.
Traffic will be prohibited on the busy Plainfield street from Eastern Avenue to Hartong Street, east of the CN railroad tracks.
The closure will be in place for about three weeks as the "Old Town" utility project resumes. This phase consists primarily of water main and storm sewer installation on Lockport Street and Eastern Avenue.

The intersections with Eastern Avenue and Hartong Street will remain "generally navigable" only to local traffic. A westbound and eastbound Lockport Street detour will direct traffic onto Renwick Road using Joliet and Weber roads.
Officials said Lockport Street will continue to be closed at Route 59 to all eastbound traffic, while vehicle traffic will be allowed to exit onto Route 59 or West Lockport Street. Adjacent residential traffic and emergency response vehicles will be allowed through the work zone and guided around operations.

Another Lockport Street detour, this time on the western part of the street, will be implemented in the coming weeks, officials said, once work proceeds east of Eastern Avenue.
Once Lockport Street updates are finished, the underground utility work will proceed onto Eastern Avenue and is expected to be completed in July.
"Your patience and cooperation throughout the duration of this project is sincerely appreciated," village officials said.
