Mask Guidance Under Review By Plainfield School District

Currently, masks are optional for staff and students in the upcoming school year, but that could change.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield School District 202 officials say they are reviewing new U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's guidance issued Monday that advise everyone to wear masks in schools wear regardless of their vaccination status.

Currently, students and staff at District 202 schools are not mandated to wear masks. It's up to parents if their children will wear them at school, officials announced July 19.

On Wednesday morning, school district officials said they will communicate any changes to their back-to-school plan "as soon as possible." Check back with Patch for updates.
