Massive Snowman Built By Plainfield Family

The gigantic storm dumped more than 10 inches of snow on Plainfield — and one family got to work on a 17-foot-tall snowman.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Nine consecutive days of measurable snowfall — not to mention a Feb. 8-9 snowstorm that heaped more than 10 inches of the stuff on Plainfield — may have prompted school closings, snarled traffic and made for a ton of shoveling. But it also sparked this amazing creation, spotted by community members just off of Naperville/Plainfield Road in Plainfield.

Plainfield resident Kelly Liberatore said it took her and family members Andy Liberatore, Katie Liberatore and Zach Liberatore about six hours to complete the 17-foot-tall snowman with the help of a skid loader and a snowblower. She said the family used curtains for the snowman's scarf, a five-gallon bucket for the hat and a swimming pool noodle for the nose.

A Patch reader, who said she didn't want credit for the images, sent photos of the 17-foot-tall Frosty and wanted to recognize the Libertores for their hard work.
