Mayor Congratulates Plainfield High School Hockey Team
Team took second at the Illinois State Hockey Tournament.
Members of the the Plainfield High School Hockey Association’s Junior Varsity 1 team were congratulated by Plainfield Mayor Mike Collins and the village board on Monday after taking second place in the 2013-14 Illinois State Hockey Tournament.
Uunder the guidance of Illinois West JV Coach of the Year Bob Kimball, the team compiled a regular season and playoff record of 29-9-1, a feat made even more impressive by the fact that this is Plainfield's first year in the prestigious Illinois West Hockey Division.
The team was led by Seniors Jeremy Schanck and Andrew Brimm. Schanck, along with Tyler Burns, Nick Montes, and Zack Mayhugh, were selected to the Illinois West All-Conference team for their outstanding play during the regular season. Brimm and Jake McDonald each received special awards from the league. Brimm received the Humanitarian Award and McDonald, the Leadership award.
The team also had six players selected to the All-Star team this season: Jeremy Schanck, Andrew Brimm, Tyler Burns, Nick Montes, Alec Campbell and Jake Conrad (alternate).
