Metropolitan Youth Symphony: Music from Opera, Ballet, Operetta

Metropolitan Youth Symphony to feature music from opera, ballet and operetta at fall orchestra concert on October 23 & 27, 2019

The Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) will perform on Wednesday evening October 23, 2019 at 7:30 at the St. Charles Borromeo Convocation Hall on the Romeoville campus of Lewis University. Admission is free. The program will be repeated on Sunday afternoon October 27 at 4:00 in the Fine Arts Auditorium at Joliet Junior College. Admission is ten dollars cash at the door.

Directed by Maestro Lawrence Sisk, the concert will include Music from Faust by Charles Gounod, March and Procession of Bacchus by Leo Delibes, Coronation March from Le prophete by Giacomo Meyerbeer. The orchestra will also perform Overture to The Bronze Horse by Daniel Auber, Three Dances from The Bartered Bride by Bedrich Smetana and conclude with the Overture to Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II.

Founded in 1959 the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra has resided in Will County since 1991. Players in MYSO come from area high schools and middle schools, as well as Lewis University and Joliet Junior College. MYSO is celebrating its 60th Anniversary Season and will perform a special concert on March 15, 2020 to commemorate the occasion.

MYSO rehearses every Wednesday evening that school is in session from 6:00 to 8:30 at Lewis University. The orchestra currently has openings in their violin and viola sections. For more concert and audition information, visit www.mysomusic.org.
