New Year's Closings, Trash Pickup Delay For Plainfield

Just like the week of Christmas, trash pickup will be delayed one day for New Year's 2018.

PLAINFIELD, IL — It's time to ring in the New Year in Plainfield, but just like last week, some area offices and businesses will be closed for New Year's Day 2018. Likewise, Waste Management will be picking up trash and recycling one day later.

Here's a list of what's open and what's closed on New Year's Day in Plainfield:

  • Post office: Closed
  • Federal offices: Closed
  • Village of Plainfield: City offices are closed. Garbage collection will be delayed a day.
  • Will County offices, including the circuit clerk's office, courts, health department and more will be closed on Christmas
  • Plainfield schools: Closed (Winter break lasts through Jan. 8, 2018)
  • Plainfield library: Closed
  • Banks: Closed
  • Gas stations: Open
  • Retail stores: Some will be closed, but many — including area grocery stores — will be open, but check the hours before you go.
