Obituary: James Louis Picciolo, Sr.

James Louis Picciolo, Sr., late of Crest Hill, and a lifelong Joliet resident, passes away at the age of 72.

James L. Picciolo, Sr.

James Louis Picciolo, Sr., age 72, late of Crest Hill, and a lifelong Joliet resident, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Lakeshore Rehab and Healthcare.

Born October 3, 1948 in Joliet, he was the son of Frank and Dorothy (Robbins) Picciolo, and was a graduate of Joliet Central High School. He proudly served with the United States Army following high school, and returned to begin a 46 year career as a machinist and steel worker for the former Sheffield Steel which became Gerdau Steel.

Surviving are his children, Joseph (Kayli) Picciolo, Katie Picciolo, Brian Picciolo, and Michelle Picciolo; two brothers, Frank Picciolo and Eddie Moholick; one sister, Elaine Korst; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane, in 2011; one son, James L. Picciolo, Jr.; his parents; and one sister, Marilyn.

Visitation for James Picciolo will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet. Attendance guidelines will be followed, face masks will be required and social distancing will be practiced. Funeral services will be private. The family has requested to live stream the services of their loved one on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. Please click on this link (https://youtu.be/6lKlsU-hVmQ) and follow the instructions to show your support for them at a time when you cannot be physically present, but your thoughts, prayers and connection are.

Cremation rites will be accorded following services and interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mokena, at a later date.
