Below are links to the Plainfield Township Park District’s meeting of May 13th, 2015. Total run time is roughly two and a half hours! All commissioners except Peter Hurtado attended.

Board officers were elected, with Mary Kay Ludemann continuing as president and Larry Newton elected as vice-president. Wendi Calabrese will continue as board secretary and Maureen Nugent will remain treasurer. The board’s current legal representation (Matt Campbell from the firm of Kavanagh Grumley & Gorbold, LLC) will stay in place.

I may have some views to share on this meeting later, but wanted to post the video sooner so that people can review it at will, since this was a little more eventful than the normal meeting and does take quite a bit of time to view. There are some good topics covered, like a presentation from the Delphi Committee (a group of local leaders asked to look at the park district and give impressions and advice for positive growth and development). Also, the Finance Department won—for the 9th straight year—an award for solid financial reporting. It was a pretty full agenda for the board, overall.

For now, it is at the 15:06 minute marker of part 5 that Commissioner Silosky uses her time during Commissioner Comments to express gratitude to many during the past two years of her service and announces her resignation from the board.

Anyone interested in applying to be considered for this seat should please contact the Plainfield Township Park District. Here’s their story link on Patch regarding filling the commissioner spot.

I hope that some of those people who had expressed interest in serving the public on this board a year ago, when Rep. Cross and Sen. Bertino-Tarrant were making some choices for additional board members, will have a renewed interest!

But, anyone out there who would like to do a good job working on having beautiful and useful cost-effective open/green spaces and high quality recreation programs should be sure to apply. Good luck.

The next regular PTPD meeting is on Wednesday, June 10th. Agendas and meeting packets become available here in the few days leading up to the meeting.
