Plainfield Election Results: Peck Out; Bonuchi, Newton, Larson Win Village Board Spots
Mayor Mike Collins ran unopposed.

PLAINFIELD, IL – Two newcomers will join the Plainfield village board this year, according to unofficial vote totals. Trustee candidates Larry Newton and Cally J. Larson won seats on the board, along with incumbent Margie Bonuchi. With the lowest total by more than 500 votes, incumbent Garrett Peck loses his seat on the board.
Newton said he will step down from his current role as a Plainfield Park District commissioner to take his spot as a trustee. He said he plans to submit his letter of resignation as soon as vote totals are official.
Newton said he was pleased to see Larson, a realtor, win a spot on the board. He had mixed feelings about leaving the park board behind.

“I’ve been through quite a lot in the 13 years I was with (the park board),” he said, but added that the park district is in a good place after some turmoil in recent years. “I think they’re in good shape,” Newton said.
Bonuchi, district technology administrator for Plainfield School District, was elected in 2009 and re-elected in 2013.

In 2015, Peck said he did not plan to seek re-election to the village board, a stance he apparently reconsidered. In 2012, he unsuccessfully ran against Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant for the 49th District State Senate seat. He also served a controversial stint as Executive Director of the Plainfield Park District before resigning in 2014. Peck did not immediately return a message left by Patch Tuesday night.
Village President Mike Collins (with 3,488 votes in Will and Kendall counties) will serve another term and ran unopposed.
Vote totals are as follows, according to Will and Kendall county election results:
- Margie Bonuchi: 2,434
- Garrett M. Peck: 1,633
- Larry D. Newton: 2,166
- Cally J. Larson: 2,230
All results are unofficial until April 25.
