1st Marching Arts Invitational Planned At Plainfield Central High

Marching percussion groups, marching wind ensembles and the District 202 Winter Guard are set to perform at Plainfield Central High School.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Indoor marching percussion groups, marching winds and winter guard are gearing up to perform in the inaugural Plainfield Marching Arts Invitational Sunday.

The indoor concert will commence at 1 p.m. at Plainfield Central High School, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Drive. Students from across the district take part in the marching groups. Plainfield Winter Guard includes students from Plainfield Central and Plainfield North, while the District 202 Indoor Percussion group comprises students from North and Central as well as Heritage Grove and John F. Kennedy middle schools.

Argo Winter Percussion, Grayslake North Winter Drumline, Minooka Indoor Percussion and the Lincoln-Way Indoor Drumline will also perform. The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps "Chromium Winds" are set to make a special appearance at the show, District 202 officials said Friday.

The event will culminate in an awards ceremony, set to start at 4:15 p.m. A bake sale will also be ongoing during the show.

Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for students with an ID and $7 for seniors 65 and older. Children 5 and under enter for free. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.

All proceeds from the Marching Arts Invitational will help fund District 202 Winter Guard and Indoor Percussion trips to WGI World Championships in April.
