Plainfield Citizen's Police, Fire Academy Returns For Another Year

The program offers Plainfield residents and business owners the chance to learn about local law enforcement's duties and responsibilities.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield residents interested in learning more about how their local law enforcement agencies operate are invited to sign up for the Citizen's Police and Fire Academy.

This year, the free 12-week program will run from April 2 to June 18, officials announced Friday.

The program, led by Police Chief Robert Miller and Fire Chief Vito Bonomo, offers Plainfield residents and business owners the chance to learn about their local police and fire departments and their staff's duties. Held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday nights at various locations throughout Plainfield, classes will discuss topics including crime scene processing, vehicle extrication and emergency response, among others.

Personnel from the Plainfield police, fire and ambulance departments will teach the curriculum that is designed to be informative and beneficial. Sessions will include both lectures and hands-on instruction.

The class size is limited to 25 people, and registration closes at 5 p.m. March 26. Applications are available online or at the Plainfield Police Department during regular business hours.
