Plainfield D202 Goes Remote For 2nd Day Due To Icy Temperatures

District 202 students had remote school on Friday and a day off on Monday thanks to Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield students are learning remotely again on Tuesday as a result of icy temperatures and "bus-related issues," officials said.

All students in Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 were directed Monday afternoon to log into their Google Classrooms Tuesday for an e-learning day, which does not need to be made up at the end of the school year.

Wind chills will be as low as 25 to 35 below zero on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. A wind chill advisory will go into effect from noon Tuesday to 9 a.m. Wednesday as another "Arctic blast" will arrive at the end of the week, and wind chills will drop below zero again, Patch reported.

All after-school activities, as well as the YMCA Kid Zone, were canceled Tuesday, while decisions on athletics will be made later in the day, officials said. Transportation for private placement students was not available, either.

Officials said students will return for in-person school on Wednesday. The high for Wednesday is 26 degrees, and there is a chance of snow in the afternoon into Thursday morning, the weather service said.
