Plainfield Dance Academy presents the Nutcracker on December 15th
The magic of the season comes to life in "The Nutcracker" ballet featuring area dancers in lead roles

It’s time to deck the halls and light the lights as the Plainfield Dance Academy and Wheatland Dance Theater usher in the holiday season with a performance of the ultimate holiday classic, “The Nutcracker” at 3 p.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Plainfield North High School, 12005 S. 248th Ave., Plainfield, IL 60585. Tickets for this family favorite are $25 for children and seniors, $30 for adults and can be ordered online at www.tututix.com. Tickets can be purchased the day of the performance and are $35. This enchanting, full-scale production features a cast of more than 80 talented dance students ages 7-17, special performances by PDA’s children and adult programs, and includes renowned professional dancers including Arionel Vargas as the handsome Nutcracker Prince. Featured roles of young Clara and the popular Sugar Plum Fairy will be performed by Plainfield’s Rebecca Taylor, age 10, and Naperville’s Rachel Kelly, age 17.
The cast was selected after an intensive audition held in early September in front of professional dancers and choreographers. Rehearsals are held weekly to ensure an entertaining and skilled performance.

“The Nutcracker” is the most popular ballet in the world and has enthralled and entertained children and adults alike throughout the years, becoming a holiday tradition for families the world over.
Set to Tchaikovsky’s iconic score and presented in its original form, “The Nutcracker” is a full ballet presented in two acts. This production features professional backdrops, stunning lighting and special effects, colorful costumes, and is choreographed by PDA executive director and artistic director Altin Naska and Olena Nalyvaiko, former dancer with the Moscow Ballet.

The music, costumes, story, and delightful characters will bring out the child in everyone as they embark on a magical adventure with Clara, Drosselmeyer, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and the Nutcracker Prince.

The Plainfield Dance Academy’s mission is to provide dancers with a comprehensive artistic education that fosters excellence in all forms of dance and enhances a passion for the arts. Internationally celebrated dancer, choreographer, and teacher Altin Naska serves as the artistic director of Plainfield Dance Academy. He is widely recognized for his fusion of ballet and modern techniques and has worked with such companies as Thodos Dance, Dutch National Ballet, Dance Chicago Choreography Project with the Joffrey Ballet, Stars of Dance Chicago, and Chicago Dance Theatre. Additionally, he has worked with the Moscow Ballet for the past 11 years and has produced the annual World Dance Day in Spring and Chicago International Dance Forum in Fall for the past eight years.
