Plainfield Flood Recap: Overflowing DuPage Closed Roads, Forced Evacuations

A roundup of Patch's coverage of this week's post-storm flooding.

According to the National Weather Service, at 12 feet, the DuPage River reaches the flood stage. At 14, residents can expect moderate flooding.

But before it was all over Friday, the river had reached a height of more than 16 feet, prompting some residents to evacuate and closing roads and schools in and around Plainfield.

Several events were also canceled due to the flooding and will be held at a later date: the Walker’s Grove anniversary carnival (Friday), the Plainfield Township Abilities Expo (Saturday) and the Bengal 5K Eastside Shuffle (Sunday).
