Plainfield Man Killed In Chicago Hit-And-Run: Police
The 26-year-old was at the intersection of Green Street and Washington Boulevard in the West Loop early Saturday when he was hit by a car.

CHICAGO, IL — A Plainfield man has been identified as the victim of a hit-and-run crash in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood early Saturday morning, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.
James Richard Thompson, 26, suffered fatal injuries in the crash just after 1 a.m. Saturday.
Thompson was walking at the intersection of Green Street and Washington Boulevard when a car hit him and did not stop to help or exchange information, Patch reported.

Officials believe the car involved to be a black 2006 to 2010 Mercedes-Benz four-door sedan. The car is likely missing the passenger side mirror and has front-end damage, according to Chicago police.

Police released surveillance footage of the car before the crash and are encouraging nearby businesses and buildings to check their surveillance videos for any possible footage.

In a statement to ABC Chicago, Thompson's family called the 26-year-old "a shining light that brought joy and happiness everywhere he went, as well as a "fantastic son, brother and friend to many," citing his love for sports and the outdoors.
The statement continued: "We are devastated that our son, with an incredibly bright future ahead, was taken away by a criminal who ran a stop sign, killed our son, and drove away leaving an enormous hole in the hearts of family and all those that loved him."
