Plainfield Park Board Member Steps Down

Anyone interested in serving on the board can apply now.

PLAINFIELD, IL — After several years of changes, there will be another new face on the Plainfield Park District Board of Commissioners. Park district officials said Heather Kazmark will step down, effective Oct. 31, and the board is seeking a new member.

Kazmark was appointed to the board to fill the spot vacated by former commissioner Janet Silosky in 2015. Although she ran unopposed for a six-year term in April, the person who takes her spot on the board will serve only until the next election in 2019. The candidate that wins that election will serve the remaining four years of her term, ending in 2023. After the 2023 election, the position will again carry a six-year term.

Park officials did not give a reason for Kazmark's resignation. She works as the chief of staff for Illinois State Rep. Fran Hurley, a Democrat who represents the 35th district, including Orland Park, Palos Heights, Mount Greenwood and Evergreen Park.
