As part of Park & Rec Month, we’re telling #ourparkandrecstory. For #teamtuesday, we’re highlighting some of the Park District team who get the job done for our residents.

If you’ve attended a Park District special event over the years, you’ve encountered the work of Recreation Manager Misty Bartlett. Misty oversees all of the details and planning that go into hosting events like Journey to the North Pole, Haunted Hayrides, Grinchmas on the Green, Breakfast with Santa, and even our recent Hawaiian Luau.

Misty got her start with the Park District in 2004, teaching cooking classes and working on early childhood programs and Kindergarten readiness.

Her favorite part of her job she said is seeing people come out for events and having a good time.

“I love seeing the joy on the faces of families who attend our events,” she said.

With so many events held outdoors, she said that the only downside to her job is the unpredictability of the weather.
