Type of business: Shop that sells home goods, accessories, gifts and clothing. Items are new as well as vintage, antique, handcrafted, repurposed, reworked and refurbished.

What inspired you to open your business? “Everyone says to follow your dreams … so I did!" Van Tassell said.

What are your specialties? They offer “the perfect mix of old and new, great gifts for the home, friends and relatives,” Van Tassel said. “Something new comes in everyday and if you don’t see what you need, just ask and we can usually find something you will love to take home.”

Why did you open your business in Plainfield? “There are 44 thousand people in Plainfield. Hopefully, they will look to downtown to start shopping for their homes and gifts,” Van Tassel said. “Our main store, located at 222 Liberty Street in Morris, houses more of the same. We are located two doors south of Me Tu Boutique in beautiful downtown Morris.”

Van Tassel said Vintage’s Plainfield location features “gorgeous” clothing handpicked by Me Tu’s owner, Anna Bretz.

What is your favorite “find” or most treasured vintage item currently in your shop? “We have a beautiful old armoire that is second to none in design feel and price point. It would add just the touch of character to any room that would hold its size and stature,” Van Tassel said.
